Burning Man 2005: Night on Earth
Having looked at some of the nighttime playa art I'm in the mood to share some other nighttime scenes.
Near Kids Camp, around 5:30 at Catharsis Streets, I spotted what I think is a camp kitchen. The shadows and light captivated me every time I had the pleasure of walking on by.
![]() Just around the corner was this tent with a mandala-like painting on the front and strings of lights rising to a pyramid behind it. Soothing.
![]() Here's a dance club near Berlin, near 3:00 Street. (Ranger Station Berlin is at the city bottom; Tokyo is at the city top.)
![]() Here are some more scenes of the dance clubs in the area, all on the Esplanade from 2:00 to 4:00 Streets.
![]() This is a huge mobile float, parked in front of a dance club.
![]() This is a long bus, outfitted as a moving dance club, complete with fog, LASERs, and a dance floor atop the bus.
![]() Somewhere in that neighborhood was a bar on the Esplanade, into which I was graciously invited by this barmaid. (If you know who she is, or the name of the bar, I would love to give credit.) The place had the feel of the Mos Eisley cantina in Star Wars.
![]() Let's leave the night, have a few hours of sleep, and wake to a bright day where we meet some of the participant-citizens who populate our fair city.
