Burning Man 1998 Whereupon our heroes Michael and Ranger Lefty leave the Pearl of the Pacific and head out to a gem in the high desert, Reno, on their way to the annual gathering on the windswept lakebed. I wasn't planning to go to Burning Man this year. In spite of her urging me to go, I didn't want to do the desert without Rose. The new house has been so much fun; I planned on doing more renovation and touch-ups, not spend a week in the desert away from my pregnant wife. All that changed when, a week ago in the offices of a client of mine - Organic Online, I was approached by fellow consulant. Ranger Lefty stopped by my desk to talk to me about the Burning Man images I was using as my screensaver. He had the desire and a set of wheels wheels but noöne with whom to go. I didn't want to be the one driving, and my Burning Man buddy of two years was at home making a baby, so Ranger Lefty and I decided to make a go of it. We planned and schemed and packed, but our adventures started in earnest the morning we loaded everything into Ranger Lefty's truck.
