Burning Man 2005: Kids Camp - Art Car
I promised that you would see Kids Camp Mayor Zaphod; here he is, at right, in the plaid kilt:
I took these pictures on eDave's art car, which he's graciously provided to Kids Camp over the years. Just as the trampoline seems most important to the kids, eDave's art care is the most vital part of Burning Man for many Kids Camp parents; without it we couldn't share the event so well with our offspring.
While we look for eDave let's see those relaxing on the other bench:
Could it be...? Yes! That's the extremely tall eDave at the center of this picture, with the art car behind him. (I apologize for not having better close-ups; I was growing exceedingly frustrated with how poorly my digital camera was dealing with the pocket lint it found last week. It was properly protected against playa dust.)
Here's a view of eDave's art car from a higher point. Think refridgerator, with magnetic tiles on which one may draw. (The fridge theme will be revisited later, when we see eDave's playa art project.)
Here's Rose, who was in the photo with Mayor Zaphod, enjoying the shade of eDave's art car while the kids use the permanent markers to draw and write on a tile. They were really impressed by this interactive art; eDave got it just right.
These photos were taken as eDave showed us some of the art on the playa. There's just no way of sharing the art with the kids without a motorized vehicle. (This is the first year the kids can bicycle the playa, but it's not the same thing, given the huge size of Black Rock City.)
Here's Isaac on the art car, sipping from a hydration system (which turned out to be a fantastic way of keeping the kids tanked up).
And here's Lila on the art car, sporting her new 'do, dark sunglasses, and brass dogtags
