2004-02 Gran Canaria: Much Ado About Nothing
Saturday 28 February 2004
A quiet day, after letting the kids sleep in after a late night watching Los Guanches Norteños.
We start off with a leisurely breakfast at Paddy Murphy's, where Isaac is working on his billards technique:
The clouds are a bit splotchy today, and it's a cool 18° C (64° F), so when a long stretch of cloud-free sky arrives I hustle the kids over to our pool to play with their toys. It's a good decision; it's the only stretch of continuous sun we have all day (and without sun the pool isn't warm enough).
Rose makes Turkish coffee and brings it poolside. Ah, that's what I needed. Thanks, honey!
Once the sun ducks behind the clouds we bring the inflatable boat and the beach toys up to the room. We pick up another layer and head out to Maspalomas. Here's Lila sitting at the bus stop; C. C. Yumbo is at left, Atlantis I is at right.
The bus trip is an uneventful ten minutes; €0.90 per adult, kids free. Isaac watches everything; Lila is especially pleased with the Ferris Wheel she sees at the Holiday World amusement park. From the bus stop to the Faro de Maspalomas is a very long block, during which I take this photo. Is it me, or does everyone look like they need a nap?
Dinner of duck, rotkohl, and semmelknodel by Omi Marga, then two very tired kids get brought back to our apartment to sleep.
Tomorrow we do low tide in Maspalomas.
