2004-02 Gran Canaria: La Belle drag show

The kids' favorite beach, as was mine so many years ago, is the one at Maspalomas, near the faro (lighthouse). So we again jump on the bus for the five-minute ride south. We're meeting up with our new friends, who also like this area.
I'm seeing changes in behavior: Lila, who used to eschew getting sandy, now becomes one with the grit, following the example of her big brother.
 She's also learned how to use the foot-wash to tidy up (before she runs right back to the sand to begin the process anew).
 And there's absolutely no better way to celebrate a good day on the beach than with helado.
 Every other Saturday night is chateaubriand night at the Deutsche Gasthaus Atlantis, and as ever, we're left impressed. The meat, the vegetables, the bratkartoffel, the sauce béarnaise, the caffè leche! All delight the palatte. Thereafter we head out to the C. C. Yumbo" playground, to let the kids run off their excess energy. (Great table behaviors during a long, adult ritual.) Here's "Rose" watching over "Lila" and Toby, with Toby's sister looking on.
 Not many photos of me, so I take my new camera in hand to end the shortage. Here I'm framed by the lighted poles of the Skyrider amusement ride. I can't decide whether I'm cool or warm. The air temperature is comfortable, but the tiny gusts chill one quickly (and very temporarily).
 Our friends have invited us to join them at a drag show at club La Belle, which is conveniently located in a free-standing structure next to the C. C. Yumbo" playground. (The music from the drag show lulled "Lila" to sleep when I strolled her around when she couldn't sleep {glossSub("2003 Gran Canaria: About the Canary Islands", "last year")}. This year my kids are all used up, so I bring the family home, put them all to sleep, and return for pleasure and business. Colin talks to me about his engineering efforts.  The kids are enjoying "crisps". Jackie watches the dancers dragging audience members up on the stage for renditions of "YMCA" and the Macarena. She gets roped into doing the Hokey Pokey.
 Neeve and Mimi, resplendent in their glitter lipstick applied by Francisco in the backstage dressing room. The girls absolutely loved being here.
 Tomorrow is our friends' last full day. We celebrate with them at Casa Poco, Maspalomas.
