Burning Man 2000 Reno to Black Rock City
We like our habits, and we blaze our trails in the ruts we've cut in previous years. The morning we depart from Reno is filled with paths which we've travelled before. Breakfast is traditionally a stop at one of the grand buffets, followed by a visit to Twin Cities Surplus for any military surplus which can be used for camp supplies, and then, as required by the physics of refrigeration, is to go food shopping for perishables before filling up the gas tank and driving to the playa.
![]() This year these habits were made more complicated by our good-natured attempt to meet up with a first-time Ranger and her boyfriend, which of course turned into one tardy connection followed by another. Finally, several hours later than we'd planned, we finished up our chores and put our wheels to the highway. This photo shows the landscape somewhere between Little Nixon and Pyramid Lake, if memory serves. You've already seen what it takes to set up Camp Vermeer so I won't waste time describing it again. I'll just mention how this year's camp was different, noteworthy.
