Burning Man 2000 The Man
It's the next day, at dusk, and it's time to capture a bit of the glory of the Man. Here's the scene from a few hundred meters away.
A close-up of the Man and his halo (not a standard feature). I don't know the story behind the halo, though.
I pull back, notice the platform on which the Man stands? You're allowed to walk right up there. [UPDATE: No longer. Several folk got aggressive with the long neon tubes in the Man's legs and broke them. Now - and in subsequent years - the platform is designed to keep the participants away. A few bad apples...]
Sun has set, and the fire-twirlers have come out. Buried in the playa surface you can see L2K, the landing lights for the aliens, when the come to the festival. These haven't yet been dusted, and seem to be covered by the days driven dust.
The neon is turned on. The man, with the hills behind.
A close-up. I was going to use this for a desktop picture for my PowerBook.
The moon has risen, and the Man's hands too. All hail the Man!
A close-up of the Man and the moon.
