Burning Man 2000 Rangers
Facing Center Camp is the Black Rock Ranger Headquarters.
In addition to the trailer seen at the left edge of the panorama, we had a small army of support vehicles including several golf carts, two communications trailers and radio antenna towers, and a commissary for all the staff (the Rangers, the Department of Public Work, the Firefighters, etc.).
Here's a Department of Public Work truck flying the Jolly Roger. The DPW folks are responsible for the infrastructure which makes up the city proper. We're indebted to all their efforts (and their grace in dealing with the "short-timers" who visit their home of many months for only one fleeting week). At right you see a Bureau of Land Management law enforcement officer tooling around the main esplanade.
I didn't take a lot of photos while on duty, as I probably should have, but you will see Rangers here and there during this year's goings-on. Here's a series of photos of Ranger Romy donning her gear during a shift change.
Ranger Smiley, her beau, is around here somewhere...
