2004-12 Gran Canaria: San Fernando
Wednesday 22 December 2004
We need to buy some specialized groceries, so we head towards C. C. San Fernando. On the way we stop by Paddy Murphy's, on the other side of the C. C. Yumbo, where Lila and Isaac play a game of billiards.
Isaac loved the hibiscus (in this hedge), the four colors of bougainvillea, the bananna plants, and especially the dates in this palm tree. He demanded we take this picture.
We make it over to the Suministros Frutas Y Verduras, where we see this Santa attached to a palm tree. These decorations can be seen on hotel balconies and the like.
Inside we're busy choosing everything from cheramoya to fresh tomatoes.
Our next stop is the Charcutería. This isn't Isaac's first exposure to the gruesome side of eating meat, he saw the grill at the La Cabaña Park. Still, this is pretty in-your-face.
Shopping done for all of us, we head over to the Pasteleria Bomboneria San Francisco to give Isaac a mid-day meal.
Isaac selects a huge chocolate cake and freshly-squeezed orange juice. Not exactly what I expected.
Seeing these locals playing dominoes was a real highlight for Isaac, who recently got a domino set.
We spend some time playing, and checking out the kids pool (still too cold), and searching the supermercado. The kids play "baby" back at 306.
