Burning Man 2002: Ranger Mickey
A page for me, not a common occurance. Here I am in San Francisco, with Ranger Lefty's truck all loaded. Moments earlier Isaac just realized that all the talk I've been doing about the event, and all the photos I've been showing them, is coming real at this very moment, and Papa is driving away without him. This might have been the first time he's not been with me; you can see the unhappiness on his face.
On the road again! My Newton is in my lap (on which I'm typing this), we have good music on the radio, and most importantly, we're in no rush. It's going to be a nice journey.
Me at my Ranger best: completely prepared for the elements and able to casually stroll around Black Rock City in this complete white-out, helping others.
Just returned to Lefty's truck during the white-out. Covered with playa dust from head to toes.
This is what Ranger Norman sees as we're about to head out on night patrol. I'm all lit up, but with the camera flash all you can see is the blue el-wire around my hat.

Me standing under the canopy of the Ranger Station, with several layers (for the nighttime chill), radio, red-and-white striped burn circle pass, electroluminescent Ranger badge from 1996 (only a very few were made).

This is what I look like to the participants. Easy to spot on the dark playa.

Enjoying the buffet back in Reno. That's a mighty good cup of steaming hot coffee. Reno is just another theme camp :-)
That's it for our Burning Man 2002 tour. Thanks for joining us.
