Burning Man 2002: Panoramas
I have a long history of stitching together paper photographs (long ago) and digital pictures (in recent years). I think one can get a much better feel for the environment this way, and it's easier and cheaper than trying 360° Quicktime VR panoramas, which are compelling but hardware-intensive.
This is the view from one of the Esplanade theme camps, the ship (seen at right), looking towards the center playa.
![]() The setting sun, as seen from the Esplanade. Just as the rays dissapear people all over the city give a big howl, just as they clap and cheer when the first rays of the rising sun appear in the mornings.
![]() From the inner playa, looking back at a theme camp on the Esplanade. The flapping mass of flags was quite eye-catching.
![]() One afternoons Lamplighter Procession. Always impressive.
![]() Panorama of a camp with what I think is a mobile bar temporarily stopping to slake our thirsts.
![]() A view of one of the art pieces on a playa showing lots of vehicle tracks, blowing dust, and very few people.
![]() A panorama of the main avenue leading to Center Camp, in the background.
![]() Now on to some miscellaneous bits and pieces.
