2003 London: Changing of the Queen's Life Guard
Friday 31 January 2003, continued
We stroll across Trafalgar Square, and while we're considering making our way to Buckingham Palace we see something to our left: it's the changing of the guard at the Queen's Life Guard. Horses, swords, sunshine, snow: what's not for a little girl (in the pram I'm pushing) or boy (walking along with Rose) to love?
![]() After the changing of the guard, we get to see the man and horse on sentry duty. I suspect this must be mind-numbing at best, but given the added rigors of cold and wind, it must (pardon the pun) royally suck.
![]() At Isaac's insistence we make our way back to the Underground, where we see the following wall mural advertisment uncovered by the upgrade work. I hope someone figures out how to preserve and display this, rather than losing it to "progress".
![]() Next, we stroll from Leicester Square to Covent Garden Markets.
