Burning Man 1997: Colorful Characters
As delightful as the nature, art, buildings, art cars, and theme camps are, it's the people who really bring the exploratory radical freedom of Burning Man home to me.
Here's a gentlemen with a bird-feather mask.
![]() A couple adorned with body piercings, tattos, and paint. And she's carryng a good amount of water; yea!
![]() Some body paint here, but more costume.
![]() This guy wins for unexpected costuming: he's wrapped a long bolt of cloth around his head, with the tails enveloping his shoulders and upper body. Seems overly hot, especially with a blazing sun.
![]() The Atom Couple, each of whom with encircling electrons? I'm positive :-)
![]() Some more bedouins, these with sheer kefeyas.
![]() Blue Paint Burger Guy. I'm in awe of people who can cover their bodies with paint in the hot, dusty desert. It makes me squirm. Maybe if I had a righteous shower waiting for me at day's end.
![]() Speaking of which, here's Red Guy. I love the vision thing.
![]() Okay, let's visit Crazy Dante's Used Soul Emporium.
