2003 Scotland: Babbity Bowster, Glasgow
The Babbity Bowster is built within the walls of a house dating from circa 1794, credited to Robert and John Adam. The original Roman Doric doors are still extant.
The last tenant was a fishmonger, after which the building was left in almost complete ruin. Other than the exterior walls, everything else has been completely rebuilt, giving it the look and feel of an old guest house rescued from the ravages of the ages. (I've heard the restoration has won several awards.)
Frasier, the owner, has assembled a staff of the most friendly folks I've had the pleasure to meet. A cliché perhaps, but it really is like returning to the home you never knew you had.
Here's what I said on a 'net review forum:
![]() Here's a better view of the Babbity's location.
![]() Here are Lila and Isaac, relaxing on the floor of our room on the third floor of the Babbity. They loved the place!
![]() Before we leave The Babbity Bowster, let's examine its theme song.
