2001 Kaua'i: Tue 27 Feb 2001
It's a beautiful sunny day here on the Garden Isle, so we headed south to have breakfast at Ma's and continued on toward the Poi'pu Beach Park. In Koloa we stopped to enjoy the architecture of one of the Buddhist temples on the island.
After a long swim and much playing on the beach we returned to our home base at the Coconut Beach Resort in Kapa'a. Here's part of our beach view. The yellow tape is to keep malahini (outsiders, visitors) away from the monk seals, an endangered species which sometimes choose this beach as a prime spot for enjoying the sun.
It was a late day, and as we seemed to have missed the lunch hours at damn near every place worth eating, we decided to try our hotel's lounge. With some trepidation I ordered the kalau pig quesadilla, but it was delicious. It turns out that our executive chef is also responsible for the lu'au next door, and so some of the imu-cooked pig is brought over to the hotel. Wow, what a great idea!
The panorama above is our lounge. Rose can be seen sitting (just left of the center) watching Isaac, who is fast asleep in his car seat. We went for a long swim after he awoke, moving back and forth between the "hot 'cuzzi" to the "cold pool".
