Burning Man 2008 - Playa ROM
Every year, prior to the Burning Man event, some of the Black Rock Rangers head into the high Black Rock Desert for a weekend of training, food and drink, and some bangstix. This year it was on the Fourth of July weekend.

Shopping in Reno, NV.
It never makes sense to drag heavy things over the Sierra Nevada montain range. The water we need in the desert can be easily acquired at the many supermarkets in Reno. Same goes for the last-minute snacks we always buy, like my uncharacteristic lust for Fritos in the burning heat. Perhaps it's the salt?
Because Nevada is an "open carry" state, I'm carrying. That's my Heckler & Koch USP Compact .40SW and a Utilikilt made for the Ranger corps many years ago.

The day of lectures and training. Some really good acting was seen.
Conversation, libations, and shooting rounded out our time together.

This is the sad day, one of leave-taking. It was good seeing old friends, and exciting to realize that we'll all be back in less than 45 days! Yow!
So little time to plan and pack!
