2002 Colorado: Cave of the Winds 2
Thursday 4 July 2002, Independence Day, continued
As I said, it was cold in the cave. Having been warned we came prepared with layers of clothes. It was also dark in the cave. This is a picture of Isaac peering directly into the lens. Yes, look carefully, you can see it.
It's really hard taking good pictures in a cave. Without proper technique and equipment one loses all perspective and much of the color. Since I have neither you'll have to make due with these three images.
We celebrated Omi's 90th birthday at the Stagecoach Inn, in Manitou Springs. I had an amazing local stout, a great appetiser of buffalo steak and sausage, a main course of beef roulade (rolled around crab and asparagus, covered by a béarnaise-based demi-glace sauce), and a very satisfying dessert of capuccino and key lime pie.
Isaac is more than a bit used up, and running on the restaurant grounds playing the their porch swing and looking at the gas lights doesn't help much. It takes me a good bit of time to get him to sleep. Rose thinks the extremely warm evening might have had something to do with it.
Little do I know that the lack of thunder today (almost all fireworks have been banned because of the wildfires) will be taken care of tomorrow, courtesy of Thor's Hammer. But first, it's time to enjoy breakfast at No. 1.
