2002 Colorado: Independence Day
Thursday 4 July 2002, Independence Day
We wake, start up our three-car caravan, and head back to Manitou Springs, to Adam's Restaurant. (Mom and Emil remember eating her years ago, while skiing the area. They don't remember any details, nor the name of the eatery, so they give clues - has wooden floors - to our hostess and she guesses. Correctly.)
![]() Adam's is a stone-and-wood affair, full of sun and warmth. The staff are friendly. We are sleepy. A good combination. The coffee, well, the cappuccino, is good, and the huevos rancheros are really good.
![]() Isaac picks at his food, not hungry, and heads out to the waiting area to play with his trains and read their books.
![]() Felica and Adam are scheduled to arrive from "San Franciso" this afternoon. We don't want to do any of the must-see events without them, so we head back to the Timber Lodge to pick up some tourist information, play in the playground, and swim in the pool. It's Isaac's second time swimming, the first being during an unexpected layover at Newark airport (EWR). After all that we decide that the nearby Cave of the Winds is a good place to visit.
