Gulf War II - CBS Baghdad webcam: Palestine Hotel
It's 2003-04-07 at 0608 PST. This reporter comes on, chatting with Miami and Nueva York. He's got IFP (whatever that is) but they can't hear him at home. He really, really wants to shoot a piece about the bombardment of the nearby hotel, of which we see a bit during the camera pan to the buildings behind our usual point of view. He speaks Spanish, and I can only pick up a few phrases here and there (at the incrediby rapid pace he's chatting to his producer). Later on, when he speaks conversationally, I get more of the story...
A Reuters cameraman was killed and at least four other journalists were injured today when their hotel in central Baghdad was fired on, apparently by a U.S. tank. The Americans said they were retaliating against snipers shooting at them from the roof of the Palestine Hotel, where many foreign reporters covering the war are staying. Perhaps we just got the clue which tells us the location of the the mosque at which we've been looking. I just heard him say 'polacka' - more about the Polish special forces soldiers? I'll have to turn my ears back on :-)
