1998 Italia: Cortina d'Ampezzo's Hotel Royal: Breakfast
The story of Cortina d'Ampezzo's Hotel Royal must begin at breakfast, included in the price of setting up a vacation base of operations. At left, the tiny but fresh breakfast buffet. The silver cannister you see is actually a programmed hot beverage dispenser with buttons for hot chocolate, coffee, etc. In the middle you see my newlywed bride, Rose, not yet awake. (Please forgive me, sweetheart, for this picture.) And at right you see my sister Felicia. The buffet line is in the background; nothing was more of an incentive to get to the buffet as it opened than the slow-moving line.
Nearing the end of the setting-up process, you see us at our first nibble (as opposed, I guess, to the Last Supper). From left to right are Larry and Liz Schick, Rose, Mom, Emil, Felicia, and Adam.
