2000 St. Ives, Cornwall: Walkabout The middle of May, 2000, continued There are many things which I didn't photograph which really do deserve documentation. I plead the exhaustion of a tired child-toting tourist. The Tate St. Ives - one of four branches of this museum - is spectacularly located on Porthmeor beach. I can understand why artists are drawn to St. Ives. The combination of country living, the pseudo-urban crucible of ideas found in cafés and pubs, and the wonderful light. Things are so clear here that it's eerie. (It reminds me a bit of Martha's Vineyard, on the other side of the Atlantic.) Another thing which I completely missed photographing are the shops on Fore Street, which parallels The Wharf. Here we had high tea, crumpets and clotted cream, and other delicacies. There was even a store which sold some organic goods; we was thrilled to be able to keep Isaac going on fresh produce and dairy products. And there are some nice bookstores in St. Ives in which I would have liked to spend a bit more time. I did take some pictures, despite my weariness. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
