2000 St. Ives, Cornwall
The middle of May, 2000
We've had a great time in Münster with Omi Marga, and the train ride back across northern Europe and through the Chunnel was relaxing.
We'll be spending another few days in London (the big circle on the map at right) before completing the trade of Germany's cool overcast mists for the (hopefully) warm and sunny environs of the tiny seaside hamlet of St. Ives, Cornwall (not to be confused with the terribly land-locked St. Ives, Cambridgeshire). Cornwall's St. Ives' location is marked by the small arrow on the bottom left of the map. That's where we're headed!
Have you heard the following nursery rhyme?
As I was going to St Ives
I met a man with seven wives.
Each wife had seven sacks,
Each sack had seven cats,
Each cat had seven kits;
Kits, cats, sacks and wives -
How many were going to St Ives?
Well, now you know as much as I do about St. Ives as I did before I arrived. A friend of Rose's runs a bed-and-breakfast, and so it seems like a good excuse to travel and reconnect.
The train ride was just wonderful: a nice sunny day, beautiful countryside, interesting passengers. I was looking forward to seeing just what the tiny seaside village of St. Ives was really like.
