What's New? 2007-08-01

The San Francisco Unified School District can't do much right, when you look at the details. It seems as though teachers teach and principals govern in spite of the organization, instead of empowered by them. It's more than just annoying.

I'll skip over the whole annual "starting school before Labor Day" fiasco, and go right to the miserably horrid work an SFUSD subcontractor is doing on the kids' school. Here's the scenario: let's pull Ethernet everywhere. So instead of thinking about where the computers are going to be placed (anywhere but in front of the chalkboards) they place all the junction boxes right next to each other in the one place in the classroom where you want everything to be completely free of wires and obstructions and whatnot, the chalkboard. Just unbelievable.
