Lefty across America: 2003 - 02 - 03 (6)
February 5-9 -- San Francisco, Orinda, & Mount Tamalpais, CA
I returned to the Bay Area from Reno, thus completing a big north-east-south-west loop through northern California & Nevada. Originally, I had not planned on returning here once I started my trek. But I had necessary business still lingering in San Francisco -- mail to receive, big checks to deposit, then big bills to pay -- before truly starting the 'Lefty Across America 2003' tour.
Because of the graciousness of good friends, I was able to sleepover at their homes for a few nights; and on short notice, God bless them. Thank you, C. & Y. & E. & J. ! This included precious time to visit with them more, for which I am again humbly thankful.
I also snuck in a couple nights up at the West Point Inn: an old, rustic lodge up on Mount Tamalpais where I have worked as one of the weekend innkeepers for the past two years.
![]() As I left the Inn & came down off the mountain, Redwoods fan that I am, I snapped this somewhat-aerial picture of Muir Woods from Panoramic Highway. If you dropped a golf ball down on the ground where I took this photo, turned 180 degrees around, pulled out a 7-iron, and hit a perfect shot, it would hit the house where I will return to live in West Marin. Muir Woods, in my neighborhood!
![]() Having received the critical postal mail I needed, I headed south from San Francisco towards the day's destination, Santa Cruz, CA. But not before I took this last photo of the Golden Gate from a familiar perch in the Presidio. A picture taken of my new neighborhood, from my old neighborhood. But miles to go, and journeys to take, before I sleep. (Rush right ahead to see Lefty pay his bills and visit Santa Cruz and Big Sur.)
