1996 Kaua'i Oh! I'm so excited to be coming back to Hawai'i! It's been a while since I've been in the heart of the Pacific Ocean, and I'm sorely in need of balmy breezes and palm trees. This time I'll be spending more than a weekend in Waikiki, that tourist pit, or two weeks in the heights of opulence (as I did the last time, in the Westin): this time I'm doing a down-to-earth trip, trying to get a better feeling for the island vibes, staying at the only hotel owned and run by locals, the Kauai' Sands in Kapa'a. I'm armed with my PowerBook 5300c and my new Kodak DC-120 digital camera, so I'm ready to have you looking over my shoulder. (Actually, you won't be seeing any of this until I return and upload it. Unlike my 1995 Eivissa and Gran Canaria trip, during which I uploaded travel reports each day, this trip will be free of dial tones and modem squeals.
