installing the alarm, p. 5

Having finished with the LED installation I turn my attention to getting the siren under the hood.

Here is perhaps where I found the instruction manual to be the least clear. Lots of mumbles about crossbars and such. I'm not a car geek and without a supplementary maintenance book (which I haven't yet purchased) or a motorhead friend (who was at the zoo) it was confusing as to where the siren was to go.

So I put the bracket on the siren and - with instruction diagram in hand - moved it around until I spotted the area they were describing.

What one has to do is use a plier to gently press together the arms of the rubber dinky which holds some electrical wires to the frontmost piece of metal, the crossbar. Push together and push down, and you've got a hole in which you can anchor the siren.

The electricity is supplied by a pre-wired connector which I found hanging right behind the headlight. Take off the protective cover and snap it to the siren. (A passer-by warned me that it might sound just then, but it didn't.)

The instructions say to use the four tie-wraps to keep the wires out of the way, but they seem to fit snugly under the crossbar. I'll check it in a few days to see if the tie-wraps are actually needed.

Now the alarm system seems to work exactly as described in the manual, despite my inability to find the mysterious connector behind the dashboard. I'll leave things open there until I get a bit more investigation done over the weekend or early next week. The adventure will continue!

Have you found errors nontrivial or marginal, factual, analytical and illogical, arithmetical, temporal, or even typographical? Please let me know; drop me email. Thanks!
