What are those jolly faces eating green things? That's was Isaac's question looking up at the tiles in our shower.

Mom is home from the hospital. We're thrilled. She says she's weak, but happy to be enjoying the smell and sights of home. But why is the toilet seat so low?

Cognitive dissonance. That describes my watching Hugo Weaving (as Elrond) in The Lord of the Rings - The Fellowship of the Ring (2001). I saw Priscilla, folle du désert (The Adventures of Priscilla, queen of the desert) (1994) but I didn't remember Hugo as Mitzi. I do remember him as Agent Smith, in The Matrix and The Matrix Reloaded. Seeing him tonight as Elrond was strange.

All the tubes are gone. Mom can go home any time now. No more painkillers (to speak of), only that wonderful hospital food. Once she recovers her strength she'll undergo 6-8 rounds of chemotherapy and then further evaluation. We're hoping for the best. Her physical condition seems to have been a great help. And that she's stubborn.

Handspring Treo 180 I can't believe it's almost the middle of the month, and me without many updates. Sorry. It's been absolutely frantic around here as we make and break reservations on our trip, deal with bills and junk mail, and ensure that both Lila and Isaac get enough mental and physical stimulation each day. And meals and stuff :-)

Mom's in the intensive care unit, doing well. It appears to have been stage three cancer, but centered in the peritoneum rather than in any particular organ. It was "optimally debunked" and the surgeons are happy with their work. Felicia made sure that she had a gynecological oncologist in the operating room, which happened. Now we wait and see how Mom recovers.

Mom's in the hospital. She found out a few days ago that she's got cancer; she's undergoing surgery today.
