Karin Kutsera-Sattler: died on Friday 20 May 2004
born in Ahlen, Germany on 14 January 1938 died in Bridgewater, New Jersey, USA on Friday 20 May 2005 aged 67 years Karin Sattler-Kutsera, neé Spiegel, was born in Ahlen, West Germany. She settled in Brooklyn, NY, USA where she resided until moving to Holland in 1964 and to New Jersey (Far Hills, then Bridgewater) in 1969. She attended Ahlen High School, studied a semester in London, England, and took a Bachelor of Arts from the Sorbonne, Paris, France. Karen received her Masters in German from Rutgers University, New Brunswick, New Jersey, USA, in 1983. She was an educator of German, French, and ESL (English as a Second Language) with the Bernards Township school system for 25 years, retiring in 2004. She was an instructor for, and member of, Literacy Volunteers of America, teaching recent immigrants how to speak and read English. Karen was an avid skier and a member of Belleayre Mountain Ski Club, where she skiied almost every weekend. She also loved skiing in Chamonix, France, and Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy. Surviving are her beloved husband of 14 years, Emil; her loving son, Michael, and daughter-in-law, Rose, of San Francisco, California; a loving daughter, Felicia, and son-in-law, Adam, of Alameda, California; her dear stepson, Steven, of Bridgewater; her dearest mother Marga Spiegel of Münster, Germany; her cherished grandchildren: Siegmund, Isaac, and Lila; and her brother, Daniel, of Ibiza, Spain. A gathering of family and friends will be celebrated Monday 23rd May 2005 at 1pm at the family residence.
