Album 2002.04.11

Welcome back! Lila is so very happy to see you. She'll be eight months old the day after tomorrow.

Lila on a blanket

Reaping the benefits of our last Ikea run, Isaac has been "chalking" (in his own words) on the front walkway. The weather has been unseasonably mild and we've forgone our almost-daily playgroups in favor of gardening.

We lifted piles of loquat leaves (which don't decompose) off the hapless plants in the front garden, cut and bundled the tree trimmings from the last few years from their pile in the side garden, and trimmed the roses, ginger, and hedges from the back garden. Everything was hauled to the sidewalk for the green pickup to remove (and convert to mulch to sell back to us :-).

Here you see Lila doing her sniffle face. It can mean anything from "there's a bit of wind in my face" to "I am happy to be agreeing with what you said". It's a cute face.

The best part about having three gardens is playing in them. The front garden is flowers, the side garden are small trees (and soon to be lichens, I think), and the back garden will have vegetables and perhaps even a grass play area (I have to see what kinds of sod I can easily acquire). The back garden is windy, though, and not so much fun around sunset (when the winds gust for a while). I'm also thinking about getting a propane heat lamp, which might make dining in the back worthwhile.

After all that gardening it's time for a hot shower. Apres shower we see the girls club, pretty in pink.

We'll leave you now, singing a song. Usually Isaac plays his guitar as accompanyment, but today he's holding his own photo album and Lila has the musical instrument, a turtle. Eye contact with Lila is fun, and she gets such a kick out of it. Our best to you, and we'll see you soon.
