This is most often caused by an active Express Modem control panel in a 660AV or 840AV. Deleting CU-SeeMe's preferences file and clicking off the Express Modem will usually fix the problem.

With the 660AV or 840AV, you need to switch off the Express Modem control panel before you can send audio. It doesn't matter if it's installed and in your Control Panels folder, provided it is switched off before you try to send CU-SeeMe audio. Somebody once told me he was able to receive a fax via a Geoport modem while sending CU-SeeMe audio on his 840AV, but I have never been able to get my 840AV to send audio with the Express Modem CP switched on.

Answer: To the best of our knowledge all Mac AVs and Quadras will work with CU-SeeMe. Read the section about AV hints, which mentions things like setting the monitor colors to 256, using the correct 'vdig' (video digitizer), powering down to reset VideosSpigots, and so on.

Answer: Your color depth is set too deep. VRAM (video RAM) limits the maximum depth of color that can be displayed while simultaneously displaying live video. For instance, an my 660AV with 1 MB of VRAM and a 16-inch color monitor, I can normally display thousands of colors, but have to flip down to 256 colors in order to display live video or run CU-SeeMe.

I launch CU-SeeMe from a web document by configuring the view application for telnet/tn3270 to use CU-SeeMe. Thus I pass the IP address of the machine to connect to CU-SeeMe just like it wants. I chose to use the tn3270 because I have never come across a link using it and it uses an IP address just like what you want. Not only that but the IP could be to a reflector or a single machine. In the future my home page will have a url to my CU-SeeMe desktop transmitter.

So given that a view has the application view for telnet/tn3270 setup as CU-SeeMe, a web document has a URL like "tn3270://232.666.777.888" or "telnet/tn3270://555.666.777.888" and away you go. The document should of course have the viewer setup explained.
