2003 London: A British breakfast and a visit to Marks & Spencers

Saturday 1 February 2003

Isaac seems a bit better, but he's still being a tool. Rose still can't stomach the idea of eating, but I have to. (I only had one meal yesterday. I'm weak and feeling unadventurous, but I'm starting to feel hungry.) I need something hot. Around the corner from the Tottenham Court Round stop is one of the Garfunkel chain of restaurants; a slightly upper-scale Denny's.

It may not be glamorous, but it meets our needs. The staff are nice, and the food is good. Rose is asking "oh, why are you taking a picture of me"? Because some day we'll look back on this and be proud that we worked through it. I hope you feel better soon, honey.

Finally we make it back underground, but not before stopping off at Marks & Spencers to pick up a pink fleece baby blanket to add another layer of warmth to Lila's outfit. It's cold out there. Isaac demonstrates how happy he is to be back in the tube.

Here's a close-up of Lila. Look at those intense eyes. Did I mention that she's got at least one four-point molar coming in as well? When she's unhappy we're trying to figure out whether it's the stomach (from the diarrhea) or the mouth. So far we've only given her acetominophen one evening, when we were sure it was tooth-related.

Here's a panorama of our family at the South Kensington Underground station. Isaac is partial to the new red, white, and blue trains. Lila is breastfeeding, but she's usually right alongside Isaac, smiling, jumping up and down, pointing at the trains, and waving when they go away.

From South Ken we stroll through the subterranean walkway to the Natural History Museum.
