With four independent and centralized telephone lines plus a separate fax line, individually metered and now digital (a wonder in this corner of the world), ECO can handle all the voice-based communication needs of its clientèle. As office hours are relatively short three answering machines handle all incoming calls during the rest of the day.

ECO's Message Service plays an important part in the daily life of residents and visitors. There are two service plans:

Monthly
Subscription
All incoming messages, faxes, letters, and parcels are processed and stored for one monthly fee of 5000 pesetas. Incoming telephone calls are free as well, a very valuable benefit given that telephone rates in Spain are among the highest in the world. Last not least Shraddha and Daniel will make telephone calls, write a fax, or compose email for you whenever you want to communicate in a language in which you're not able to speak or write including German, French, English, and of course, Spanish. This is certainly the plan for residents and visitors staying longer than a month who wish to stay in touch.
Piecemeal
Services
If you won't be staying here for long, or your communications needs are sporadic, we'll handle your communiques piecemeal: incoming telephone messages and faxes are 200 pesetas each, pieces of mail are 25 pesetas each, and incoming telephone calls - should you happen to be here waiting for the call - are 200 pesetas each. Staff-originated calls, faxes, or email are available for 200 pesetas each.

The Internet was brought to Eivissa in the autumn of 1995 by Michael 'Mickey' Sattler of Digital Jungle: Home. He set up an on-demand modem-based connection with an Internet service provider (ISP) on the Spanish mainland. Eivissa was wired, but just barely. (In the early months of 1996 an local ISP start-up inaugurated a persistent connection to the Internet. We are looking forward to increased bandwidth and cheaper per-bit connection costs.)

ECO is thrilled to offer a variety of digital services to the resident and visitor community:

Electronic
mail
ECO will send and receive note-sized email for you. Longer email may be composed by you on our client Macintosh. A limited suite of software for document creation is available to you.
Information
search
ECO will search the entire Internet for information on any topic you request. (Searches can be restricted to information found on the World Wide Web or USENET.) You'll be given a list of information sources, from which ECO will retrieve individual entries (to be delivered to you on paper or - if you provide - on Macintosh or Windows floppy disk). Search fees are XXXXX pesetas per hour, retrieval fees are XXXXX pesetas per hour, calculated in quarter-hour increments. Time is rounded to the next quarter-hour.
Designing
and hosting
web pages
Eivissa's is a service economy, targeted to the year-round tourist community. ECO will design and host web pages for our neighbors and businesses. Pages may be hosted here on the island or in the USA. We have an eclectic community here; we would like to bring some of our fire to your screen. Fees for web work are negotiated on a per-job basis.
Self-service
and full-service
desktop
publishing
ECO has many years of experience in word processing, poster design, brochure and leaflet creation, and spreadsheet and database applications for business use and special events. Clients may rent an on-site Mac Plus and Imagewriter II; the ECO staff is available for assignments (which we do on a Macintosh PowerBook 520c and a Color Bubble-Jet printer. A digital camera will be used to import pictures as needed.Fees for web work are negotiated on a per-job basis.
