May's Coffee Shop
May's Coffee Shop, in Japantown, is one of my pillars of child-raising. Open at 07:30 daily, with a good variety of kid-friendly food, a safe and interesting area enclosing it, May's is where I take the kids when I'm woken too early and I want to give Rose and the other sibling some extra sleep.
![]() Our favorite foods include the three-meat omlette over fried rice; SPAM, Portugese sausage, and bacon for us. Isaac is really partial to their short stack of pancakes; Lila likes the omelette and has lately started eating the SPAM musubi (on the plate she's holding). Lots of elderly Japanese frequent May's; they have all come to know the kids. There's a waterfall and a goldfish pond (where you see Christmas trees in the picture). The pond may be gone for good; vandals stealing fish and tossing debris may have vexed May to the point where she leaves it full of plants instead. XYZZY - I'll add more pictures and description as I can.
