maps
Thursday 10 February 2005
I started learning about maps in middle school, and I remember being enchanted by them. As I've grown older I've been more intrigued by antique maps. I own a few, and have coveted a few more :-)
Here are some maps and thoughts of maps. Let's start with one of my all-time favorites, a 1666 Blaeu of Roma, from his Townbooks of Italy. At right you see Joan Blaeu (c. 1599-1673), also known as Johannes Blaeu and Joannis Blaeu.
I can't believe I've had this 'blog for twelve years and never created a page about maps. I love maps! I love maps in a way that I can't adequately describe, yet.
Have you found errors nontrivial or marginal, factual, analytical and illogical, arithmetical, temporal, or even typographical? Please let me know; drop me email. Thanks! |
